Welcome to Math Word Problems advice at A-Z Worksheets. If reading is the trouble, teach the words first that the problems are likely to use, have the student read the text or help him do it, and practice writing the Math definitions that apply to the new lessons. If your student writes the words that he doesn't recognize, he will soon begin to recognize them with practice.
A-Z Worksheets free printable Math sheets are meant to be basic Math help for practicing the Math facts. Math Word Problems help the student do the thinking that using the basic Math facts require. Truly, few students actually read their Math text. And this is part of the reason that children cannot do word problems. Reading the Math text book is the best path toward being able to solve word problems. If you have good Math textbooks that teach the principals well, help or encourage your student to read the instructions himself or to read along with you. Reading the practice problems and writing Math definitions in a separate notebook can be a big help, too. When reading is the difficulty teach the Math vocabulary of the student's level NOT back to some imagined level. Teach the reading at the same time. Frequently, simple copy work is the answer. Help the student aspire to what he should be able to do at his level or you will only hold him back. Think about it, once the student has learned hard words, he has gone a long way to knowing how to read the "easier" words.

If you scan them and use them for your young students you will go through all of the basic Math facts in a K-6 program. You can offer as many A-Z Worksheets Math Word Problems Worksheets to your students as you like, but don’t tarry too long since there is so much that cross-teaches the same rules throughout the years. We find that when a student copies his work in a logical manner and says the problem or word out loud he has an easy time of learning the math facts well. Once a student knows the value of each coin or bill he simply uses the basic math facts to figure the value.
